Buttload of Gangs
Napolean was obviously lying about all the gang activity going down at Preston High. What he didn't realize--or maybe he did--was that the gang activity was centralized a few miles down the road in Logan. This documentary captures it all (you gotta watch all 12 parts). A friend of mine co-starred in this (and I hung out with the creators on occasion), and I saw it on the big screen in Logan, so maybe that's why I find it so funny. But you decide for yourself . . .

What Would Don Do (of course--duh!). You can own your very own if you take this quiz (for the record, I got all answers correct on my first turn--he's very much a guy after my own heart). Don has a retail store in Logan, which we plan on visiting on our road trip next month.

1999 symbolizes my "freedom" time: I was a college graduate, gainfully-employed, virtually debt-free, and single/childless. Hiking the Timberline Trail

I don't think I've been on a true backpacking trip before. Back in high school, my friend Bart and I planned a multi-day trip to Carl Lake, but we ended up turning around after one night of camping at Cabot Lake because it was raining so much and we'd rather stay at his family's cabin instead. I also hiked up to Moraine Lake as a scout leader, on the way to South Sister, where we camped in preparation to summit Oregon's third tallest peak, but we left all of our gear at the lake on the second leg of our climb. That was back in 2001. I first learned of the Timberline Trail by reading a brief summary of it in, of all places, Portland Monthly. Sure, it was 35 miles farther than I had ever backpacked before, and it involved two more days and nights, and I would be going solo. More Eddie the Dog

The weather today was beautiful out so I accompanied the boys on the half-mile walk to church. Edward ran ahead like a scout, Aaron walked with some friends he met en route, and Ian and I took our positions in the rear. I eventually passed Aaron and his posse, and as I turned the last corner before the church, I noticed that Edward had stopped just short of the church. As I neared, I saw that he had dropped his pants and underwear and was peeing on a fire hydrant. I ran as fast as I could while carrying Ian and tried to remedy the situation, while Eddie protested that he had to go and couldn't wait any longer. This isn't the first time he's acted out like a dog, but I really hope this pattern doesn't continue. Also, a few days ago as Eddie was praying, he said "Please bless the people in Haiti so they won't get beehives in their hair." I really have no inkling where that one came from.
